19th/20thC Sheraton Style Huntboard, With six turned legs, walnut and pine construction, three drawers over three cabinet openings, tall peaked backsplash with center point and notched sides, center wood inlay of a shell in an oval, contrasting wood inlay on edges, drawer fronts and doors, some areas of loss/wear commensurate with age and use, 52" wide x 35 1/2" tall surface height (43" total with splash) x 20 1/2" deep. Provenance: Samuel Walker (1908-1964) master craftsman, engineer and ship model builder from Boston, Massachusetts. Walker enlisted in the USMC in 1942, and served in the battles of of Saipan and Tinian. After the war, Walker married Elizebeth Howard and started a family, while restoring a 1720's house in Merrimac. This is the house where Walker would go on to make so many exceptional ship models. His work has been exhibited at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, and is included in some of the finest ship model collections in the United States.
