This is an original linoleum engraving by American artist Albert Abramovitz (1879-1963) The title is: Song of Iron, created and printed in 1933 in an edition of 25l. This pencil signed and titled image measures 14" x 11 1/8". Fine condition, printed on a buff toned wove type paper. Three blacksmiths work as a team to forge a sickle on an anvil. The man to the left secures the iron on the anvil while the middle figure gets ready to strike the blade. The third man, on the right, readies his hammer to strike when the other is finished. The sickle was a symbol of solidarity between the peasantry and the working class during the Russian Revolution.
