This is a fine color woodblock print by American artist Helen Hyde. The title is: A Day in June. The image was created and printed in 1910. The image measures 14 1/2" x 6 1/2". Hand signed in pencil lower right. This image appears as the cover on the Helen Hyde catalog as published by the Smithsonian Institution Press in 1991. Helen Hyde traveled to Japan in 1889. In Japan, Helen Hyde learned the Japanese woodblock printing techniques from masters such as Emil Orlik, a European living in Japan. Hyde resided in Japan from 1903 through 1913 and refined color woodblock printing to a fine art. During this time, Hyde also traveled extensively to China, India, and Mexico. Slight toning to the sheet, a thin Japan type paper. A fine example of Hyde's Japanese work.
