Gouache on card, signed lower right, 11 1/4" x 14 3/4" sight, matted and framed to 16 1/4" x 20 1/4", under glass. Probably painted in the late 1960's or early 1970's.
Barton was born and raised in Los Angeles and attended the University of California. In 1953 she and her husband moved to Paris, then to the countryside west of Paris about a decade later. Barton worked as a factory worker, salesperson and an antique dealer before discovering painting in 1964, when she was inspired by the natural beauty of her new home and the primitive paintings she'd see in her travels. Her early paintings, such as the present example, focus on the subtle levels and the forms of the landscape around her, blending intricate patterns into primitive forms.

Pick Up/Shipping: Peterborough Auctions has limited space and a busy schedule. Buyers are asked to make timely arrangements to pick up, or to arrange shipping of purchased lots. Designated pickup hours will be posted for the two weeks following each auction, after which all pickups are by appointment only. Buyers of large lots or buyers with multiple lots on their invoice are encouraged to schedule an appointment. Lots left in our gallery for 30 days without communication of arrangements are subject to storage charges ($5 per day, per lot); after 60 days these lots will be deemed abandoned and disposed of as seen fit by Peterborough Auctions.
Peterborough Auctions does not directly ship any lots sold at our auctions, but works with a trusted and reliable shipping partner in Peter at KaSa CMT, Inc. located right down the road here in Peterborough NH. He provides excellent services using FedEx, UPS, and the USPS. They can be reached via email at peter@kasacmt.com (preferred method is email) or at 603-784-5327. Please contact auctions@peterboroughauctions.us directly for shipping quotes. The buyer is responsible for contacting KasaCMT after their invoice is paid in full and requesting shipping services, we do not contact them on your behalf. They will pick up your item(s) after your invoice is paid in full.
Certain lots are subject to in house shipping quotes in an effort to expedite the process. In this case, shipping costs will be added to the invoice total. Lots will be shipped to the address on the invoice once payment is received. It is the responsibility of the buyer to update their address or inform us of an alternate address BEFORE making payment as the flat rate shipping process is automated. We are not responsible for any additional fees to redirect a flat rate delivery.
