Aquatint etching, 4 3/4” x 4 3/4”, signed and titled in pencil, on heavy wove type paper; a rich impression, some glue remains to back of sheet. Hornyansky was born in Hungary and grew up working as a color mixer in his father’s printing business. He studied at Budapest’s Academy of Fine Arts before emigrating to Canada in 1929, and is widely regarded as a master of the aquatint process.
